# Developer API keys

Developer API keys let trusted tools operate your SteadyRenew account through the public API.

## When to use an API key

Use an API key when you want a script, assistant, or automation tool to:

* List subscriptions.
* Analyze spending.
* Find duplicate subscriptions.
* Create or update subscriptions after confirmation.
* Read audit history.

Do not use API keys in public browser code or shared prompts.

## Create a key

1. Sign in.
2. Open **Settings**.
3. Go to **API & MCP**.
4. Enter a key name.
5. Choose read/write or read-only permissions.
6. Create the key.
7. Copy the full key immediately, then use [Copy to Agent](/docs/en/user-guide/agent-setup) to connect.

The full key is shown only once. After that, the app only shows the key prefix.

## Revoke a key

Open **Settings** > **API & MCP** and revoke any key you no longer use. Revoking a key stops future API requests that use it.

## Limits

All signed-in users can create API keys. Defaults on both plans are 5 active keys and 60 requests per minute per account, shared across keys. The API & MCP screen shows your current plan and deployment limits.

## Safety tips

* Use one key per integration.
* Revoke keys that are no longer needed.
* Rotate a key if it may have appeared in logs, screenshots, or prompts.
* Choose read-only permissions for agents that only query or analyze data.
